Qualifications

Essential Criteria

• You must have a recognised qualification in: Registered Nursing: RMN/RSCN/RNMH, Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Social Work (CQSW/DipSW), Occupational Therapy. You must be registered with a professional body, e.g., NMC, UKCP, HCPC, BACP.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential Criteria

• Experience of providing evidenced-based assessments, formulations and treatment packages to children, young people and families.
• Experience of working with children in paediatric health settings.
• Experience of multidisciplinary teamwork.
• Experience of consulting with health care and other professionals.
• Knowledge of legislation and national guidance in relation to the needs of children.
• Experience of assessing and managing risk, including safeguarding.
• Experience of caseload management working within a multi-disciplinary mental health setting.

Skills

Essential Criteria

• Ability to plan and prioritise own caseload.
• Ability to select, use and interpret a range of psychological measures including cognitive and developmental assessments.
• Ability to formulate clinical problems using psychological theory.
• Ability to integrate psychological theories and outcome data with clinical practice and service provision.
• Ability to assess needs, plan, implement and evaluate appropriate interventions with children and parents/carers across the age range.
• Skills in planning and delivering evidence-based interventions with children and parents.
• Demonstrate sensitivity in all contact with disadvantaged groups.
• Ability to work with people from different backgrounds, cultures and of different ages.
• Good skills in communicating with children, parents and colleagues.
• Ability to cope with stressful interpersonal situations including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the case of highly emotive and distressing problems and the threat of verbal and physical abuse.
• Ability to use assessment tools and outcome measures effectively and in collaboration with the child, young person and family.
• Demonstrable extensive therapeutic skills.
• The ability to work independently and autonomously.
• To reflect on and critically appraise the performance of self and others.
• To manage and organise own time and diary.
• To follow policy and make proposals for and be part of local legislation change.
