Principal Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist

Contract Type: Permanent, full time

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Principal Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist to join our multidisciplinary team. This pivotal role involves providing strategic professional leadership within our Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service, ensuring that the service operates at the highest level of quality and in line with current best practices.

The successful candidate will lead the neuropsychological rehabilitation within the service, offering expert consultation, clinical leadership, and guidance to colleagues. A major responsibility will include research and development, alongside the implementation of policies to enhance the service system.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide high-level expertise in specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessment and intervention for adults with acquired brain injury.
  2. Lead the development of evidence-based neuropsychological rehabilitation practices within the service.
  3. Offer expert consultation and clinical guidance to neuropsychologists, clinical psychologists, and other professionals within the team.
  4. Coordinate service user care as a keyworker or clinical lead, particularly for complex cases.
  5. Engage in and lead research and development projects to continually improve service delivery.
  6. Support the Service Manager in all aspects of managing the service and represent the organisation externally to promote its psychological approach.
  7. Ensure the implementation of service policies and procedures and contribute to the planning and development of new services.

Person Specification:

  1. A Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (BPS accredited) or equivalent, with eligibility for registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC.
  2. Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology and membership in the Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists.
  3. Substantial experience working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist, including senior-level experience within a neuropsychology setting.
  4. Proven track record of clinical leadership and management of specialist professional staff.
  5. Advanced skills in the analysis and management of complex multi-factorial information from clinical and organisational sources.
  6. Knowledge of research design, methodology, clinical governance, and the role of clinical audit.
  7. Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information effectively in various settings.
  8. Postgraduate training in psychological therapy models and Neuropsychology through an accredited route for the QiCN (e.g., PG Dip).
  9. Experience using assistive technologies to support rehabilitation.
  10. 1+ years of experience within the BIRT clinical environment or a similar neurobehavioural setting.
  11. Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel and stay overnight as required.
