Clinical Pharmacist - Band 7 (Equivalent to NHS AfC Band 7 dependent on skillset and experience)

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join the growing team. As our Clinical Pharmacist, you will provide the team with expert clinical leadership and direction so that pharmaceutical care is safe, effective, and person-centred.

Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, flexible shift pattern

Job Summary:
  • Support the pharmacy department to deliver an excellent medicine management service to all customers, supervising the procurement, preparation, dispensing and distribution of medicines.
  • Provide pharmaceutical expertise and input to the care of the patients.
  • Facilitate the daily running of the pharmacy department, providing a safe and effective medicines management service to all patients, staff, consultants and customers.
  • Provide clinical input with respect to medicines to all patients.
  • Ensure accurate and timely charging.
  • Ensure compliance with all appropriate regulatory, professional and best practice frameworks.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree in Pharmacy
  • Registration as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (any existing or pending Fitness to Practice issues must be declared on application)
  • Postgraduate Diploma relevant to hospital pharmacy practice is desirable but not essential
  • Post registration experience of 2-3 years
  • Clinical pharmacy experience in a secondary acute setting, or proven ability to transfer clinical skills into an acute setting.
Role and Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide pharmaceutical expertise and input to the care of the patients.
  • Support the pharmacy department to deliver an excellent medicine management service to all customers.
  • Attendance on daily multidisciplinary ward round.
  • Supervise the procurement, preparation, dispensing and distribution of medicines.
  • Influence prescribing practice and medicines management within the Hospital.
  • Facilitate the daily running of the Pharmacy Department, providing a safe and effective medicines management service to all patients, staff, consultants and customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all appropriate regulatory, professional and best practice frameworks.
  • Ensure accurate and timely charging of invoices.
  • Develop and implement Departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support the Chief Pharmacist to implement and monitor any national guidance; i.e. NICE guidance.
  • Participate in audit activities, which will improve the quality of the services provided by the department including medication incident reporting.

  • Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)
  • Acute NHS Healthcare experience
  • Acute Private Healthcare experience
  • Postgraduate Diploma relevant to hospital pharmacy practice
