Clinical, or Counselling Psychologist or Senior CBT Therapist

We are seeking to recruit a highly skilled, innovative and experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, or Senior CBT Therapist, to provide operational, clinical and professional leadership in the Bromley Mental Health Hub and the Trustwide Adult ADHD team .The post holder will provide clinical leadership in the mental health hub and Adult ADHD service and manage and develop the psychological therapies pathway , linking this to talking therapies services and secondary care mental health teams.

Main duties of the job

Working with and reporting to the Head of Psychological Therapies in Primary care , the postholder will provide skilled and experienced leadership for the psychological therapies staff and the wider hub and Adult ADHD team.

The postholder will ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality specialist psychological therapies service across the Bromley mental health pathway.

The postholder will carry out diagnostic assessments for ADHD and supervise assistant psychologists in assessment and post diagnostic support in the service.

To supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other psychologists and MDT staff who provide psychologically-based care and treatment.

To provide consultation to GPs and other referrers to the mental health hub and to advise about psychological treatments and pathways.

To provide consultation and reflective practice and incident debriefs to the service and to facilitate team working, psychologically informed practice, trauma-informed care and appropriate treatment pathways to optimise service user journey and experience across service transitions.

The post will also involve close organisational liaison with the wider Oxleas mental health system and third sector partners.

To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research. To propose and implement policy changes within the area served by the teams/service. To contribute to the overall management of the service.

Person Specification

  • Doctorate level qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology or BABCP accredited CBT Therapist
  • Substantial post qualification experience of working in community mental health settings
  • Evidence of experience of service user involvement
  • Evidence of working with clients with complex and co morbid mental health problems
  • Experience of service evaluation and audit

Leadership and supervision

  • Experience of supervision of clinical staff
  • Experience of project leadership

Working with Referrers and Stakeholders

  • Evidence of working with GP or other referrers and stakeholders
