Job summary

The post holder will work in collaboration with other members of the Eating Disorders Service as part of the team providing community treatment for people with eating disorders. The postholder will contribute to the development of a new Trust-wide outpatient service for adult patients with eating disorders and their carers.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to provide highly specialist psychological assessment and intervention (individual and group), in accordance with the evidence base; to provide clinical supervision for team members; to provide consultation to colleagues in the Trust; to undertake research, and to participate in personal CPD and the provision of training to the eating disorders team and to the wider service.

The post holder will be professionally accountable for their work and will work within the ethical code of practice of the relevant professional body. They will be required to work within the framework of the Service's policies and procedures, and will supervise, manage and support the work of less qualified team members and trainees.

  • Training in assessment and treatment of eating disorders patients
knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to assess general mental health and psychopathology, including personality disorder
  • Ability to assess and manage psychiatric risk associated with self-harm
  • Knowledge of eating disorder patients; including models of symptom aetiology and maintenance.
  • Awareness of NICE guidelines for the assessment and treatment of eating disorders
  • Ability to assess eating disorder symptoms and recognition of potential medical complications.
Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with patients with an eating disorder
  • Experience of group based treatments
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
