Exciting Opportunity to join our dynamic team as an ambulatory chemotherapy clinical nurse specialist within the Children's and Teenage Haematology and Oncology team.

You will play a vital role in delivering individualised, family-centred care to young patients, contributing to both their physical recovery and emotional well-being.
You will develop and support the delivery of an ambulatory chemotherapy service for Children and young people at Leeds, where we are heading this new development in treating patients with cancer. You will also contribute in identifying a model to sustain and expand this ambulatory chemotherapy model further, to ensure equitable treatment can be provided to all patients. The project will be office-based for the first 6 months, to develop protocols and education packages, before the clinical role in delivering ambulatory chemotherapy begins.
Clinical experience within paediatric and/or adult haematology or oncology and experience of project management is preferable.

As the project lead you will play a pivotal role in the management and care coordination of those children and teenagers eligible to receive ambulatory chemotherapy, in conjunction with their key worker, wider multi-disciplinary team and colleagues across other statutory and voluntary organisations. In partnership with the Matron and Lead Children & Teenage Cancer Nurse and Shared Care Partners, identify a sustainable service model that enables the development of a sustainable ambulatory chemotherapy service.
You may travel across the region to support shared care centres across the clinical network. You will help the provision of education for children/Teenagers and their families and professionals who are supporting them.
Leeds Children's Hospital is one of the largest children's hospitals in the UK and is part of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Based in one of the fastest growing and most vibrant cities in the UK, we provide secondary and tertiary care to children, young people and their families from Leeds, Yorkshire and the North of England. The Children's and Teenage Oncology and Haematology service incorporates a Principal Treatment Centre for Children, and for Teenagers and Young Adults (TYA) with Cancer. We have a JACIE accredited Stem Cell Transplant Unit for children and young people, which forms part of the West Yorkshire Bone Marrow Transplant programme. We care for children and young people with a range of non-malignant haematological disorders; Leeds is a Comprehensive Care Centre for Haemophilia and a Specialist Centre for Haemoglobinopathy.

The Jobholder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload. The jobholder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care.
The jobholder will provide specialist nursing care, treatment and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the speciality service. The jobholder will ensure cost effective use of resources.
The job holder will support the development of interdisciplinary and whole service working. As a role model they will promote the sharing of good practice and delivery of high quality, effective and efficient care. The job holder will provide training and education to staff groups, patients and families/carers.
The jobholder will work within a project team and be responsible to the Day Unit manager.
This is a regional service that provides holistic and expert care to all patients under the care of the Principal Treatment Centre for Children's Cancer at the Leeds General Infirmary.
