We are currently seeking a passionate and highly experienced nurse with a strong background in managing safeguarding cases or situations. The ideal candidate will have some acute hospital experience or possess transferrable skills that will contribute to our dedicated team's safeguarding agenda.
This role enables the successful candidate to develop their clinical expertise relating to safeguarding children and young people. You will gain experience within the role by covering all of our 5 sites, including our trauma services, specialist eye hospital, 2 accident and emergency departments, 3 urgent care centres, sexual health services, and inpatient paediatric services such as general medicine, paediatric intensive care, and specialist hematology and infectious disease services.
We are fortunate to work within a large integrated safeguarding team. The team consists of Named Nurses for Children and Adults, a Consultant Nurse, Named Midwife, Named Doctor, Safeguarding midwives, Safeguarding nurses for both children and adults, a Domestic abuse nurse, learning disability staff, and administrators.
The team works over the weekend between the hours of 9-5, so weekend working would be part of the hours for this role.
As part of the day-to-day role, you will triage all children under 18 attendances to unscheduled care, liaise and share information with external agencies (e.g., health visitors, school nurses, social workers, integrated gang unit workers, and Redthread), ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children.
You will deliver safeguarding training to staff and provide safeguarding supervision. You will advocate for children in various safeguarding meetings and work collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team. You will be supported and mentored by the safeguarding team, named nurses, and consultant nurse.
