Clinical/Forensic or Counselling Psychologist

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical/Forensic or Counselling Psychologist to join our integrated Mental Healthcare team at HMP Lewes. HMP Lewes is a category B Prison located in East Sussex, housing around 740 patients, a high number of whom have neurodiversity and complex trauma presentations.

Within this role, you will be an integral part of the clinical leadership team, supporting the development of the psychological therapies service. You will join a supportive and experienced team consisting of support workers, an occupational therapist, and 2 Assistant Psychologists.

The mental health team on site is psychologically minded and has brought in many new practices including the use of AI, and offers compassion-focused therapy sessions, following trauma-informed practice.

Hours

This is a fixed term contract starting in February 2025, 3 or 4 days per week between Monday to Friday. Once the FTC has come to an end, we may be able to offer 1 day per week on a permanent basis.

Salary

This position is a part-time position offering up to £58,000 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a qualified, HCPC registered Psychologist, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

  • Offer clinical support and oversight to the Integrated Mental Health Team (IMHT) in the form of training.
  • Undertake psychological assessments and support complex multi-disciplinary formulations.
  • Deliver and oversee the delivery of 1:1 psychological interventions and group interventions as part of the Trauma Informed 'Making Sense' Programme.
  • Deliver teaching and training to healthcare and prison staff where required.
  • Contribute to the development of audit, service evaluation, and research profile as appropriate.
  • Support Assistant Psychologists with the delivery of group interventions.

Qualifications required

  • Full HCPC registration.
  • Proven post-qualification professional experience in Clinical/Forensic Psychology.
  • Experience working with Forensic Mental Health patients.
  • Experience working with psychological trauma.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Team player.
