Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The trust is leading nationally on physical treatments in mental health, nurse administered ECT, rTMS and ketamine infusion. We also have research collaboration with the Open University along with Nottingham, Oxford and Northampton University.

The Trust hosts Undergraduates from Leicester and Norwich Medical schools with numerous opportunities to teach this cohort.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential criteria

  1. The applicant will possess MRCPsych or equivalent, be included on the GMC's Specialist Register or Specialist Registrars within six months of completing CCT.
  2. Full GMC Registration.
  3. Management skills.
  4. Basic computer skills including ability to use email/Internet.

Desirable criteria

  1. Publications in the field of psychiatry.
  2. Management training.

Special Aptitudes

Essential criteria

  1. Ability to relate well to elderly patients, carers and relatives.
  2. Team player - to fit in with truly multi-disciplinary team.
  3. Ability to demonstrate an understanding of broad perspective of the service within a wider context of NHS Mental Health Services and Primary Care Trusts/Groups.
  4. Experience of training psychiatric Core trainees and multidisciplinary staff.

Desirable criteria

  1. Evidence of first hand experience of developing services in a constantly changing environment and to tight budgetary restraints.
  2. Experience of setting up induction and training packages for Junior Doctors.
  3. Experience of training Specialist Registrars.
  4. Understanding of contracting, finance and activity monitoring.
