Priory Hospital, Southampton is looking for an enthusiastic clinical or counselling psychologist to join the psychology team in delivering individual therapy, group therapies, and assessments as part of delivering excellent standards of care for NHS service users requiring inpatient hospital admission.
This role could cater for someone seeking flexible working alongside another job role or other commitments as we are looking to recruit a psychologist for 15 hours per week in a part-time permanent role.
The individual therapy delivered at our hospital is exclusively with the service users on our specialist eating disorder ward, Skylark, therefore we are seeking a psychologist with an interest or previous experience in working with those suffering from an eating disorder.
Group therapy takes place across our three wards, with groups for eating disorder difficulties, and groups for adults on an acute admission on either our Starling or Sandpiper wards which both serve adults with acute mental health difficulties requiring hospital admission. Experience of delivering groups deriving from CBT, DBT, and/or ACT approaches would be desirable.
In addition to the above, we are routinely involved in delivering carer support, assessments, and written psychological formulations for the adult acute wards, facilitating training for staff, holding consults/peer supervision, and holding reflective practice sessions for staff. A candidate enthusiastic towards these aspects of delivering a psychology service for a hospital would be welcomed as they would form an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will be an HCPC registered practitioner psychologist. Experience in outpatient or inpatient NHS services would be desirable owing to the nature of this role being NHS facing and within an inpatient context.
This role will be on-site and therapies delivered in person.
The successful candidate will be welcomed into a passionate and positive team of professionals, headed by a Counselling Psychologist within the psychology team, and made up of a Therapist, Clinical Psychologist, Creative Arts Therapist, and an Assistant Psychologist. This team is overseen within the wider therapy services umbrella headed by therapy manager and Occupational Therapist, Sarah Marsh.
There will be opportunities for continuing professional development and your passion, style, and ambitions would be taken into account as you grow within the role. Particular professional development would see the candidate gaining distinct experience in working with acute distress and eating disorders, allowing for the possibility of specialism.
As one of the UK's leading providers of behavioural care and specialist support services, Priory promises a challenging and fulfilling career with the support of a world-class organisation willing to invest in your development.
All roles will be subject to a successful disclosure at an appropriate level from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), Access NI or Disclosure Scotland. We are an equal opportunities employer. Priory will cover the cost of a DBS check.
