About the Role

Over recent years NHS Tayside has committed to increased investment in the Area Psychological Therapies Service. The Service now has a complement of around 160 clinical and applied staff with an additional 18 trainees. The Department provides a friendly, supportive and stimulating environment in which to work. Opportunities exist for involvement in teaching and research, taking advantage of close links with Universities of Dundee and Stirling.

The Angus Adult Psychological Therapy Service in NHS Tayside is a well-established service made up of Clinical/Counselling Psychologists, CAAPS, Psychological Therapists, Enhanced Psychological Practitioners, and Assistant Psychologists. The appointee would be working with adults presenting with a wide range of mild to moderate mental health difficulties on a 1:1 and group basis. Supervision of Assistant Psychologists, Trainee CAAPs/Clinical Psychologists is key to the post.

Qualifications

Suitable candidates will have a good honours degree in Psychology (2:1 or above), a doctorate qualification in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology (or equivalent qualification) and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Working Environment

Angus is easily commutable from Dundee/Aberdeen and is a lovely place to live/work. It has a great mixture of villages and towns, countryside, and coast. Clinics are throughout Angus with opportunities for some home-working. The team is cohesive and supportive. Both peer and individual supervision are utilized, and ongoing training and development are encouraged.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part-time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37-hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
