As part of our newly adopted structure within Clinical Coding Services, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Clinical Coding Training Manager who can lead our clinical coding training program in collaboration with our well-established audit team.

Flexible working and home or remote working can be accommodated.

As the Clinical Coding Training Manager, you will work closely with senior management to assess both departmental and individual training needs. You will be responsible for designing and delivering a comprehensive training program that supports our vision of creating a structured pathway for trainee coders, leading them to become fully accredited clinical coders.

Main Duties of the Job

The Clinical Coding Training Manager will have responsibility for the management and delivery of a comprehensive training programme to the Trust's clinical coding department, as well as implement and deliver regular approved training sessions for clinical coders, external NHS customers, clinicians, and managers to improve knowledge of clinical coding and related topics.

The post holder will advise and assist in the implementation of new guidance and standards, ensuring that local policies and guidance are updated to best serve the needs of the Organisation and conform to national coding standards.

The post holder will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Clinical Coding Training team and clinical coding trainees.

Plan, organise, and deliver the Organisation's training programme for the Clinical Coding department, which can include but is not limited to: Clinical Coding Trainee programme, Revision programme, Refresher Courses, Classifications and Standard updates, specialty-based workshops, and individual or ad-hoc training needs.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • NHSE clinical coding approved clinical coding trainer
  • Valid TAP Certificate in Training Delivery
  • NCCQ - National Clinical Coding Qualification
  • Registration with health informatics professional body e.g. IHRIM, APHA

Experience

  • Experience of developing bespoke training packages
  • Substantial NHS acute setting experience within clinical coding

Knowledge

  • In-depth anatomy knowledge
  • Knowledge and understanding of HRGs and NTPS (national tariff payment system)
  • OPCS and ICD10 knowledge covering a broad range of specialties
