We’re looking to recruit a Climate and Sustainability Manager with expertise and knowledge in driving forward work to reduce carbon emissions, manage the effects of climate change and to lead the Climate and Sustainability Team.
In 2019, the Council declared a Climate Emergency and subsequently in 2023 also declared an Ecological Emergency. Sustainability is at the core of the Council’s leadership commitment and policies. The Council has been certified to the prestigious ISO14001 environmental management standard since 2008 and was most recently re-certified in November 2024. The Council Plan 2024-2028 was developed and established upon the founding principle of sustainability. Most importantly for the climate and ecological emergencies, the plan commits to Shape our Environment to create a sustainable future adapting to and mitigating against climate change to deliver our net zero commitments so that future generations can thrive.
South Derbyshire is at the heart of the National Forest which is one of the boldest environmental initiatives in the country - transforming a landscape scarred by centuries of coal mining and clay extraction.
We are looking for someone who is a passionate advocate for protecting the environment and mitigating the effects of climate change.
