Job Title: Clerk of Works- Damp and Mould

Location: Sutton

Start Date: ASAP

Pay Rate: £45 per hour Umbrella LTD

Driving Requirement: Full UK driver’s licence and access to a vehicle required


About the Role: Our housing client in Sutton are seeking an experienced and detail-focused Clerk of Works to support the delivery of their capital and cyclical works programmes. This is a key role that ensures all construction and refurbishment projects meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. Reporting directly to the Major Works Programme Manager, you’ll be responsible for inspecting construction activities across a range of residential projects and maintaining rigorous quality assurance throughout.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver a Clerk of Works / Quality Assurance service across SHP’s capital and cyclical workstreams.
  2. Agree and audit quality control procedures with contractors to meet SHP requirements.
  3. Maintain a constructive relationship with site supervisors while ensuring compliance with quality and specification standards.
  4. Review specifications and drawings, raising concerns or discrepancies where identified.
  5. Conduct weekly site inspections to assess material quality, workmanship, and compliance with H&S standards.
  6. Inspect completed works to ensure they meet project specifications.
  7. Prepare technical specifications where required and contribute to project documentation.

What We're Looking For:

  1. Proven experience in social housing or local authority housing projects.
  2. Recognised construction-related qualification (HNC/HND).
  3. Strong background as a Clerk of Works or Surveyor on large and moderately complex residential projects.
  4. Demonstrable experience overseeing capital works quality assurance.
  5. Excellent communication, inspection, and reporting skills.
  6. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
