Clerk Of Works

MMP Consultancy currently have an opportunity for a Clerk of Works to join a housing association based in West London. This will be an interim position paying £320p/d.

This role will be predominantly site-based. My client has housing stock near Latimer Road, West London.

Job Overview:

To act as an impartial, independent inspector. You will be responsible for ensuring that work is carried out to my client's standards, specification, and schedule. You will ensure the correct materials are used, and that the workmanship is of high quality.

Main Accountabilities:

1. Review contract documentation including drawings, specifications, and contract conditions.
2. Advise upon the practical implications of implementing the designs and draw attention to any areas for improvement.
3. Inspect construction works for compliance with contract documentation, contract instructions, and good practice.
4. Inspect construction works for compliance with statutory regulations e.g. Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, Health and Safety at Work Act, and Control of Asbestos Regulations.
5. Keep appropriate records of conditions and progress on site. Ensure that such records are comprehensive and well-structured to assist with the administration of the contract.
6. Provide a weekly written report to the Project Manager and other members of the project team as directed.
7. Liaise with residents and resident groups to address any areas of dissatisfaction for example by recording concerns about site cleanliness and advising the contractor of the remedial measures required.
8. Carry out inspections to record any defects which become apparent after the completion of works and pass those records to the appropriate person as identified within the contract.
9. Ensure that the highest standards of probity are maintained through compliance with Financial Standing Orders and that any discrepancies are reported to the Head of Asset Investment.
