Job Description

To provide a secretarial, clerical and word processing service for specific Sections within Development Services, these Sections being Building Standards, Development Management, Environmental Health, Planning & Economic Development and Trading Standards.

Requirements
  1. Provide clerical support services to specific Sections within Development Services.
  2. Provide a word processing and typing service to specific Sections within Development Services.
  3. Organise incoming and outgoing mail for specific Sections within Development Services.
  4. Provide a reception service for specific Sections within Development Services.
  5. Maintain a comprehensive filing system for specific Sections within Development Services.
  6. Provide cover for the other Clerical Assistants/WPOs within Development Services.
  7. Provide a secretarial support service to specific Sections within Development Services.
The Individual
  1. Previous experience in a busy office environment in a clerical/administrative role using relevant technology e.g. photocopier, E-mail, Intra/Internet.
  2. Experience in Microsoft Office.
  3. 4 SQA Standard Grades or equivalent at level 3 or above including English and Secretarial Studies (or equivalent) *
  4. Ability to use initiative when required.
  5. Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form.
  6. Strong customer care skills and focus.
  7. Self-confidence.
  8. Self motivated.
  9. Demonstrate ability in relation to accuracy and attention to detail.
  10. Effective organisational skills including time management.
  11. Ability to prioritise workload.
  12. Ability to relate well with all levels of staff.
  13. Willingness to accept direction/delegation.
  14. Understanding of importance of effective team working.
  15. Appreciation, acceptance of and a commitment to the importance of confidentiality.
  16. Ability to work in an open plan office.
  17. Flexibility to meet the needs and demands of the service.
  18. Ability to work in different offices dependent upon service requirements.

Closing date: 25 April 2025

Starting Salary: £24,995.10 (£13.26 per hour, 36.25 hours per week).

Contract: Temporary contract (6 months).
