Job Description: Cleaning Operative

Position Title: Cleaning Operative
Reports To: Supervisor/Facilities Manager
Location: Lowton, Warrington, WA3 2RD
Working Hours: 9AM TO 11AM (Sat & Sun Only)

Job Purpose:
As a Cleaning Operative, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and orderliness in assigned areas. You will play a crucial role in creating a safe, welcoming, and pleasant environment for staff, visitors, and clients by ensuring spaces are clean, sanitized, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. General Cleaning Tasks:
    Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in designated areas.
    Dust and wipe surfaces, including desks, furniture, and fixtures.
    Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, and mirrors.
    Empty waste bins and dispose of trash appropriately.
  2. Specialized Cleaning Duties:
    Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors as required.
    Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, and buffers.
    Perform deep-cleaning tasks, including carpet shampooing and upholstery cleaning.
  3. Replenishment and Maintenance:
    Restock toiletries, hand soaps, and paper products in restrooms and kitchens.
    Monitor and report any maintenance or repair needs, such as damaged fixtures or equipment malfunctions.
  4. Health and Safety Compliance:
    Follow all health and safety protocols, including the proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
    Ensure compliance with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) guidelines when handling hazardous materials.
    Use protective clothing and equipment as required.
  5. Teamwork and Communication:
    Coordinate with other team members to complete tasks efficiently.
    Report any incidents, accidents, or areas needing attention to the supervisor.
    Communicate courteously with staff, visitors, or clients when required.

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:
Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks for extended periods.
Basic understanding of cleaning procedures and safety practices.

Desirable:
Previous experience in a similar role.
Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
Experience using specialized cleaning equipment.
