About us:

Daniel Owen is an established recruitment consultancy specialising in the placement of quality temporary and permanent workers to all roles in the Built Environment. We work with some of the UK's largest and most respected construction, facilities management, maintenance, and engineering companies.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Civils & Infrastructure Buyer to join our client's procurement team. This role will be responsible for managing the procurement of goods and services within the civil engineering and infrastructure sectors, ensuring that materials, products, and services are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with company policies. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of quality products that meet project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sourcing & Procurement: Identify and source materials, equipment, and services for infrastructure projects.
  2. Supplier Management: Build strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing, and monitor performance.
  3. Cost Control: Ensure procurement stays within project budgets by negotiating competitive terms.
  4. Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels and ensure materials are available for project needs.
  5. Contract Management: Assist with preparing, negotiating, and managing supplier contracts.
  6. Collaboration: Work closely with project teams to ensure materials and services meet project requirements.

What we're looking for:

  1. Demonstrated experience in procurement or purchasing within civils and infrastructure.
  2. Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
  3. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  4. Proactive with a focus on finding solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. HND / HNC in Building Studies or similar.
