Senior/Principal Civil Engineer - 12 Month Contract or Staff - Based in Manchester

Our Client has a requirement for a Senior/Principal Civil Engineer who will be required to work on a 12 Month Contract or Staff basis in Manchester.

Date Required: From 1st May 2025

Employment Type: Permanent or Contract

If contract it will fall Outside IR35.

Location: Full-time based at our office in Trafford House

Site Visits: Occasional site visits required – all travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Remote Working: Occasional work from home may be possible when agreed in advance. After the first 3 months, strong candidates may be eligible for 1 to 2 days working from home per week, subject to agreement.

Responsibilities

1. Provide design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements.
2. Identify efficient design solutions from scopes and site visits and communicate these to client and project team.
3. Direct and develop CAD technicians and more junior designers and graduates.
4. Prepare design risk assessments, reports and specifications.
5. Design in compliance with relevant technical, professional and water company standards.
6. Ensure project change for design package is fully implemented and recorded.
7. Undertake work using formal processes and procedures.
8. Estimate hours required for design packages.
9. Attend and present designs at ALM, KM meetings and similar.

Required Qualifications & Experience

1. 10 years’ relevant design experience in the water industry.
2. Graduate, HND or significant experience from Technician level.
3. Good level of IT proficiency.
4. Registered with a professional body and working towards chartership.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

1. Chartered Engineer.
2. Experience with both clean and dirty water projects.
3. Awareness of construction methods and materials.
4. Knowledge of Engineering Drawing Practices.
