Civil Design Engineer

A well-established engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Civil Design Engineer to join its team based in Manchester. This opportunity has arisen due to continued growth and success across a range of projects. The successful candidate will work closely with the structural engineering team and take responsibility for leading projects, ensuring effective allocation of resources, and delivering high-quality outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5+ years' consultancy design experience.

Key Responsibilities of a Civil Design Engineer

  1. Prepare design calculations, drawings, and reports with minimal supervision, ensuring work is suitable for review and checking.
  2. Support Senior Engineers throughout all phases of project design.
  3. Contribute to infrastructure planning and development using relevant statutory knowledge including the Highways Act 1980, Water Industry Act 2004, Land Drainage Act, and New Roads and Street Works Act.
  4. Produce designs for feasibility, costing, and construction related to highways, drainage, street works, sustainable drainage systems (SUDS), utilities coordination, and other civil services.
  5. Coordinate and oversee site investigations, perform inspections, and resolve identified issues.
  6. Prepare and review proposals for client projects in line with internal procedures and contractual requirements.
  7. Evaluate project variations in scope, cost, and schedule.
