Job description

Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our church community as a Welfare Officer. The Church Welfare Officer will play a crucial role in providing support, care, and assistance to members of our congregation who are facing various challenges. This position requires a heart for service, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to upholding the values of compassion and community within our church family.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide emotional and spiritual support to individuals and families facing difficult circumstances such as illness, bereavement, or other life challenges.
  2. Visit members of the congregation in hospitals, nursing homes, or their homes to offer comfort and companionship.
  3. Conduct needs assessments to identify individuals or families within the church community who may require assistance.
  4. Work closely with church leaders and other relevant committees to determine the most effective ways to meet identified needs.
  5. Collaborate with community resources, social services, and other organizations to ensure the availability of necessary support services for individuals and families in need.
  6. Maintain an up-to-date database of available resources and services.
  7. Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate assistance and support in crisis situations, such as natural disasters, accidents, or sudden financial hardships.
  8. Collaborate with emergency services and relevant authorities as needed.
  9. Advocate on behalf of individuals or families dealing with external agencies, ensuring fair treatment and access to necessary services.
  10. Keep the congregation informed about available support services, resources, and ongoing welfare initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Demonstrated experience in pastoral care, counselling, or social work.
  2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  3. Empathy and a non-judgmental approach to diverse challenges.
  4. Organizational and problem-solving abilities.
