About The Service
Anyone can be a victim of domestic abuse. Our domestic violence services protect women, men and children who are experiencing abuse. We have a range of services to support our clients, whether they need help leaving an abusive home or rebuilding their life after domestic abuse. We provide emergency short-term accommodation for women and men, with or without children, who are escaping abuse.
In Your New Role, You Will
- Support clients with needs identified for their children in their individual support plan.
- Facilitate and support children in decision making; promoting choice and independence.
- Plan, prepare and deliver sessions to children on a 1:1 and a group basis, whilst parents are receiving domestic abuse support.
- Delivery of regular individual and family sessions working towards improving the overall wellbeing of children as well as strengthening the family unit.
- Deliver innovative group sessions that coincide with local and national days of interest/event/celebrations.
- Organise consultations, meetings with children and parents to ensure parents are included in their child’s play and development.
- Organise outdoor/indoor activities during half term for children and parents through consultations and meetings to meet needs of every child.
- Maintain client records, both written and electronic and to ensure effective communication within the team and with any statutory or voluntary organisations involved in support e.g., Schools, social services, police, etc.
- Liaise with statutory and voluntary organisations to ensure all children are safeguarded.
- Create local partnerships with health workers, schools, nurseries, social workers etc and draw up processes for referral pathways.
- Produce regular reports and monitoring information.
- To empower children and young people to develop a positive attitude to life and self-image, to promote gender equality, to build on their strengths, confidence and self-esteem.
You Will
- Be qualified, capable/willing to gain qualification and/or have equivalent level of skills and experience to NVQ level 3 in Social Care.
- Have significant experience of working with and in a child, young people and families setting.
- Have knowledge and understanding of issues that relate to vulnerable children, young people and families.
- Have experience of being able to calmly respond to difficult situations and handle emergencies without immediate supervision.
- Have the ability to deal with a demanding workload and to prioritise effectively whilst maintaining attention to detail.
- Have experience of and ability to use Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook to an intermediate standard.
- Have experience working in a fast-paced environment, whilst maintaining integrity and confidentiality.
- Have experience of and confidence in liaising with external agencies including multi-agency working.
- Be able to deal with complex issues that face children and their family.
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and the need to follow policy and procedures.
- Access to your own car and driver’s license.
