The Role:

As a Children Missing Education Officer within our Inclusion Support Service, you’ll play a key role in identifying and supporting Children Missing Education (CME). Collaborating with partner agencies, you’ll ensure these children have access to appropriate educational opportunities. Every child deserves a quality, full-time education suitable for their age, abilities, and any special educational needs. Without intervention, CME are at risk of underachieving, facing harm, exploitation, or radicalisation, and potentially becoming NEET (not in education, employment, or training) later in life.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading a small team, overseeing CME procedures in line with statutory frameworks and local policies.
  • Recording and investigating instances of Children Missing Education.
  • Providing advice and guidance to schools, parents and agencies.
  • Reviewing complex queries and liaising with partner agencies to ensure suitable access to education for all located CME.
  • Preparing and presenting detailed reports and analyses.

What we're looking for:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, with the ability to handle highly sensitive information.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing demands whilst retaining accuracy.
  • Commitment to demonstrating our values and behaviours, showing compassion, empathy and respect.
  • Experience of working within a school environment would be a plus.

Take a look at our Candidate Pack for more information about the CME Officer role. The ‘About you’ section explains what specific knowledge, skills and experience we want you to tell us about. Make sure you explain how you meet these requirements in your application.

  • Make a meaningful impact on children's lives by ensuring they receive the education they deserve.
  • Work with a dedicated and passionate team committed to safeguarding and supporting children.
  • Receive an extensive induction period designed to set you up for success, along with a wealth of opportunities for professional development and career progression.
  • Enjoy a good work-life balance with a mixture of office-based and home-based working. You’ll be expected to work from the office a minimum of one day per week.
  • Access to Health Assured's comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme to support your physical and mental wellbeing, including 24/7 telephone support, a suite of online resources, and legal and financial advice.
  • Competitive benefits package, including generous annual leave entitlement, occupational sick pay, and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Applicants can expect to hear from us within two weeks of the advertised closing date.
