Job description

Children Looked After - Corporate Parenting
1 x Experienced Social Worker, 37 hours per week (South Devon - Totnes).

Rate is up to £38 per hour.

We are seeking an Experienced Social Worker for Devon County Council's Children Looked After Team covering the South of Devon team, supporting children and young people in our care. Focusing on family-led outcomes, you will build and maintain positive relationships with children and young people, and their families to achieve safety and stability. You will model high standards of professional social work practice and will be used to working at pace, within a high-pressured environment. You will provide good quality assessments to ensure improved consistent outcomes for our children and young people, with no drift or delay for families.

Your skills and experience will include:

  1. A social work qualification and registration with Social Work England
  2. Satisfactory completion of your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
  3. Experience working within social care, including working in a multi-agency and court environment.
  4. Good written and verbal communication skills
  5. Knowledge and understanding of the legislation, models, and theories relevant to children’s social work.
  6. Good recording and planning skills
  7. A valid UK driving licence and access to a car

Social Workers need to be available to cover their allocations and visit children as necessary to meet service needs. There may be occasions when home-working will be permitted, which can be discussed at interview.

Rate of Pay: Up to £38
