Bear Pak, a non-profit community company is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a strong background in early childhood education. This role involves creating a safe, engaging, and educational environment for children, while also managing daily activities and routines. The Manager will be responsible for fostering the development of each child in their care, ensuring they receive the attention and support they need to thrive.
Duties
Be designated Person in Charge.
Supervise and engage with children in the setting, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Plan and implement age-appropriate activities, including trips that promote learning and development.
Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to build strong relationships.
Manage daily routines including snack time and collection of children from school.
Maintain a clean and organised environment, ensuring all toys and materials are safe for use.
Observe and assess children's progress, providing feedback to parents as necessary.
Ensure adequate supplies of food and drink are available to meet children’s requirements.
Support the administration team with record keeping (staff files, children’s files, registers, etc) being mindful of data protection and ensuring adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements.
Co-ordinate and supervise the activity of play workers/child care workers and maintaining correct ratios at all times.
Join the Board of Directors, attending monthly Board meetings, AGM and other meetings as required.
Stock take and purchasing of equipment and new materials.
Liaise with CIW, social services, support workers, teachers and other professionals involved in supporting children.
Ensure equal access for children with specials needs and/or disabilities
Support the cook in the preparation and serving of refreshments for the children in line with the Gold Standard Healthy Snack Award and ensuring kitchen and HACCP paperwork is completed.
Complete fire and reverse drills and complete necessary paperwork to document
Carry out day-to-day administration including registers, risk assessments and cleaning rotas.
Plan and deliver staff meetings, recruitment, inductions, training and supervision sessions and continuing to monitor staff training and development.
Deal with child protection issues in Responsible Individual’s absence.
Update website and social media with activities/events.
Oversee behaviour management including the use of reward charts.
Be designated Health and Safety Officer and First Aider, keeping accurate accident/incident records and fully stocked First Aid box.
Requirements
Proven experience in childcare or early childhood education is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a calm demeanour.
A genuine love for working with children and an understanding of their developmental needs.
Leadership qualities that inspire trust and confidence among colleagues and parents.
A valid driving licence is advantageous for transporting children when needed.
Relevant qualifications in childcare, play work or early childhood education to a minimum of Level 3.
