Under Fives Roundabout Pre-school and Toddler Group is a successful and happy pre-school for children aged 2 years 6 months to 4 years old in the city of Cambridge. We have this beautiful purpose-built building, with excellent facilities and outside space. Our children are inquisitive, engaged, and lots of fun to work with.
General Duties- To work as a team in the planning, delivery, and monitoring of the setting’s EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum in accordance with the children’s social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs.
- To provide a high quality of teaching, offering appropriate stimulation and support to the children. As part of the overall team, to supervise the daily programme of preschool activities and events.
- To implement the agreed systems of observation and record keeping so that children's attainment and progress are effectively and regularly assessed. To update files and write reports as required.
- As part of the team to be aware of staffing deployment over the setting as a whole ensuring balance and quality.
- To support the manager, deputy manager, and senior staff in their management of the setting.
- To act as a key person to a small group of children, liaising closely with other staff, parents/carers, and ensuring each child's needs are recognised and reflected in the planning of routines and activities.
- To carry out personal care for the children as required.
- To maintain proper records, e.g., daily attendance register, accident and incident book, visitors’ book.
- To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the pre-school and its activities, exchanging information about children's progress, and encouraging an inclusive working partnership which supports the development of their children.
- To undertake any reasonable duties required to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the preschool facilities. This may include helping as a team to clean in the absence of a cleaner in the short term.
- To share any child protection concerns with the child protection designated officer and to complete logging concern forms as appropriate.
- To liaise with the management committee and other professionals as necessary and ensure that all legal and statutory requirements are implemented.
- To understand, promote, and contribute to the ongoing development of the setting’s policies and procedures and to help with the review of policies on an annual rota basis.
- To attend in-service training, regular staff meetings, and committee meetings as required. To attend any conferences, training events, or meetings as identified by the Manager/Committee and to keep up to date with current good practice, and support the manager in introducing good practice initiatives.
- To attend and contribute to personal appraisal and review meetings.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Manager, Deputy, or management committee which may include working in the toddler group.
