Childcare Advocate - Locum

About the Childcare Advocate position:

Our client, a Local Authority in the South East, is seeking a Childcare Advocate on a locum basis to join their friendly and supportive Legal Services team.

The successful candidate will be predominantly court-based, but this role will also involve case preparation.

This position is anticipated to be ongoing for at least 6 months.

Responsibilities of the Childcare Advocate:

  1. To act as an advocate on behalf of the County Council primarily in relation to childcare and related court proceedings, and also in other proceedings as required.
  2. Provide advocacy at all levels, including the High Court.
  3. Provide advocacy for cases, including hearings of several days and involving issues of complexity where required and to take such cases at short notice as necessary.

Experience required for the Childcare Advocate:

  1. Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive.
  2. Experience of legal practice in public childcare law including significant advocacy experience, including in contested final hearings.
