Matter. is a Venture Capital backed CleanTech, B Corp scale-up and we have an opportunity to be our Chief Revenue Officer, who will drive the commercial capability and technology strategy to achieve financial and environmental impact.

Location: Central Bristol/Hybrid

Salary Range: £120k - £180k + Equity

The Opportunity

This new role is pivotal in the development and execution of Matters strategic milestones and exists to deliver the commercial plan for growing our business through converting B2B contracts with multibillion customers, strategic partnering and innovative engineering.

You will be accountable for designing and delivering on sales strategies to achieve desired financial and environmental impact. With responsibility for the functional oversight of our business development team, you will design and implement a framework for them to grow in and work efficiently.

By leading by example through new business sales best-practice and activity, this hands-on role involves building, managing and coaching a highly talented multi-disciplinary sales team. By working collaboratively across the business, you will lead Matter through a phase of international expansion, engaging and converting relationships with apparel brands and textile manufacturers across Europe and APAC.

Another key category that will benefit from Matters patented technology platform will be industrial and municipal wastewater treatment plants, where you will be instrumental in developing this global market segment in our mission to make environmental impact at scale.

Above all, you must be driven to improve the state of the environment and address the challenge of sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and scaling our sales function
  • Setting the Commercial strategy and driving the Technology strategy for all product range
  • Leading the business through a phase of international expansion
  • Generate and qualify new leads and use different approaches to engage prospective accounts
  • Build a high-performing sales team to execute end-to-end sales including outreach, pitching, getting alignment, negotiation, closing deals and implementation to achieve revenue and profit targets
  • Design and roll out tools, processes and KPIs to support the efficient running of the department
  • Overseeing contract negotiations in each Business unit respectively
  • Monitor market trends and provide regular competitor analysis
  • Design a robust after-sales process to deliver strong customer engagement
  • Build strong and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • You will work with the rest of the C-suite to drive the business through the next phase of growth
  • Leading and mentoring a multidisciplinary team
  • Responsible for the functional budget and be process owner of the Sales QMS including CRM
  • Responsible for departmental metrics and performance reporting for the benefit, adapting the output to different audiences

You will have full autonomy, driving commercial delivery that ensures ongoing growth, development and success. As part of this journey, you will enjoy building on the successful launches of both our Regen. for Textile Production solution and our Home Laundry External powered by Regen. filtration product, to deliver conversion of commercial contracts that will make a positive impact on the environment.

Your commercial success for our Home Laundry business unit will support our laundry appliance manufacturer customers sustainability goals, whilst also helping to scale our Regen. for Textile Production filtration technology for Matter’s Industries partners.

Your creative go-to-market strategic capability will also develop Matter’s Wastewater Treatment offering, by promoting our game-changing micro-pollution capture technology for industrial and municipal wastewater treatment plants.

About You

  • Proven track record of scaling up businesses and teams
  • Proven track record of converting B2B contracts with multibillion customers whilst safeguarding profitability and impact
  • Proven commercial background in a product / technology business
  • The ability to lead and inspire teams
  • Knowledge of the product lifecycle
  • Ability to hold technical conversations with engineers
  • Start up environment experience
