North10 Philadelphia is seeking a dedicated and experienced Chief of Staff. As an organization committed to improving the quality of life in the Hunting Park-East Tioga communities of North Philadelphia, we are looking for a strategic leader with outstanding team and culture-building skills who can strengthen our team and help us drive our mission forward. This role reports to the Executive Director and manages and coordinates several departmental managers. The Chief of Staff is a new position that will be pivotal in taking daily operational management to the next level while supporting the strategic growth and development of the organization.

Candidate Profile:

We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record in non-profit management, executive-level advising, and fostering interdepartmental collaboration. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, data-driven, and sensitive to the needs of diverse communities. They will possess outstanding mentorship and team-building skills, and be able to demonstrate success at creating an organizational culture based upon mutual respect, goal-setting, collaboration, and measurement toward progress.

Professional Characteristics: Required /Desired Skills

  1. Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree required
  2. Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible management experience in a matrixed organization, preferably community-centered and non-profit/social impact-oriented
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  4. Outstanding mentorship and team-building skills
  5. Strong organizational and data analysis skills
  6. Experience in leading multiple teams and strategic initiatives
  7. Proven ability to collaborate across departments
  8. Skilled in project management and problem-solving
  9. Experience in facilitating meetings and forums of various sizes and types
  10. Fluent in English and Spanish preferred
  11. Certification in trauma-informed care and restorative practices preferred

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  1. Develop and build relationships with senior managers and employees at all levels
  2. Communicate on behalf of the Executive Director
  3. Collaborate with leadership to determine and implement organizational strategies
  4. Assist with planning, coordination, and leading of meetings and workshops
  5. Provide support to leadership with implementing standard operating procedures as well as new ideas and initiatives

Program Oversight and Evaluation:

  1. Establish model systems of management to support organizational growth
  2. Prepare agendas and manage logistics for Leadership Team meetings
  3. Oversee strategic initiatives from development to execution
  4. Drive creation and implementation of organization-wide processes

Relationship Building and External Affairs:

  1. Anticipate and resolve complex issues and disputes
  2. Support board recruitment and new member orientation
  3. Lead advisory board and other committees as needed
  4. Cultivate key relationships and impact opportunities outside of existing efforts
  5. Represent the organization as a key contact person with partners, funders, and community members

Compensation: $125,000-145,000 Annually, with a full package of benefits aligned with nonprofit industry standards.

Organizational Information:

This role reports to the Executive Director and is the direct supervisor of 5 Departmental Managers. The CoS is the day-to-day leader of the Management Team of the organization.

Notes / Additional Information:

This position is in-person and is not hybrid. The Chief of Staff will be expected to vary their hours to include early mornings, evenings, and Saturdays as needed to meet their supervisory responsibilities.
