Chief Information Officer
Birkbeck is seeking to appoint a Chief Information Officer (CIO). Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, the CIO will lead Information Services and will ensure the effective provision, development and maintenance of comprehensive and reliable Information Services to enable the University’s day to day business operations, and support strategic developments.

The successful candidate will develop effective working partnerships with the Faculties and Professional Services to proactively identify and deliver improvements to College Information Services. They will resolve outstanding operational issues and initiate and oversee key development and change management projects.
Strong candidates will have demonstrable understanding of the UK Higher Education sector and, in particular, how IT can support future requirements and developments. They will have a good understanding of business process improvement methods and understanding of the purpose and operations of libraries in Higher Education institutions.
Experience of driving through transformational change in a complex organisation and significant senior management experience of a similar information services role within HE or a knowledge intensive organisation is essential.
