The Bureau of Meteorology is seeking applications from suitably qualified persons for appointment to the position of Chief Financial Officer.
The Bureau is Australia’s weather, climate, water, oceans and space weather agency. Our work touches the lives of all Australians every day. Our products and services include observations, forecasts, warnings, analysis and advice. They cover Australia’s atmosphere, water, oceans and space environments.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), and Executive Team to provide strategic advice on financial management and planning within the Bureau and leading the enterprise-wide financial operations.
The CFO oversees the core financial functions of the Bureau to enable effective service delivery to both internal and external stakeholders. This includes the responsibility of ensuring the alignment of the Bureau's financial management with relevant legislation, particularly the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act) and building financial capability across the Bureau.
The Bureau is looking for an experienced CFO with demonstrated experience in leading teams, communicating with confidence, managing change, and influencing across an organisation for a role central to the delivery of the Bureau’s Strategy. The CFO will have a strong track record of managing a variety of core finance and related business functions.
The successful candidate will develop a strong understanding of the Bureau's Strategy, policy authority, and end-to-end business processes to ensure sustainable and high-value outcomes for Bureau customers, partners, and stakeholders.
