Join us as our next CEO and lead us forward in achieving our brave, bold and ambitious plans to strengthen communities in South East Dorset.
Talbot Village Trust is seeking an entrepreneurial and ambitious individual who will help them achieve a step change in their impact to enable and empower people and communities across South East Dorset. Underpinned by the powerful social purpose of its founders, Talbot Village Trust provides funding, education support, accommodation, green spaces and sustainability, collaborating with partners to deliver change that matters. It has over 300 acres of land and properties and a significant endowment fund.
You will join at an exciting time as the trust embarks on its next development stage. Central to this is an exciting new development – Talbot Quarter, offering the potential to transform this into a unique innovation district and to make a broader impact across the wider conurbation by adding to the economic, employment, investment and social return in the area. Through its engagement work, the Trust offers community nature-based well-being, creative, training and learning opportunities as well as conservation volunteering.
Talbot Village Trust is a grant-giving charity inspired by the powerful social purpose of its founders, Georgina and Mary Anne Talbot, sisters who made it their mission to transform the lives of people living in poverty in Bournemouth and Poole.
Through our dedicated Board and Executive Team, we award more than £1 million a year to charities working to improve the quality of life for people across South East Dorset. Our funding encourages people to stay fit and healthy, promotes good mental health, addresses loneliness and isolation, increases social mobility and tackles disadvantages.
Our Trust also maintains over 300 acres of land and property, including the Village created by the sisters, a historic conservation area that continues to provide much-needed local accommodation.
We now stand on the cusp of some major changes and, alongside a new strategy, have an exciting new multi-purpose development in progress—Talbot Quarter, a unique innovation district set in the heart of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Pool (BCP), offering a commercial, community and connective space in the UK’s fastest growing digital economy. This will continue our partnership working with universities, local authorities, government agencies and other key stakeholders to generate long-term economic, environmental and social benefits in BCP and beyond.
Our next Chief Executive Officer will arrive at an enormously exciting time for Talbot Village Trust, where we are poised to take a transformational step forward in our activities and impact. You will play a vital role in driving our Talbot Quarter development, galvanising key partners and stakeholders to make this happen, and leading the development and implementation of our new strategy.
Working with a progressive Board and capable team, you will bring the agility to manage a broad and interconnected portfolio of activities, including grant-giving, education support, land, property, and capital development, coalescing to drive positive social change for communities across South East Dorset.
Our ideal candidate will be a leader who is excited by a multi-dimensional role, who brings a track record of delivering impactful change and growth, and experience in leading sizeable development projects. You will be bold, innovative and visionary with excellent stakeholder engagement and convening skills. The ability to engage and build trusted relationships with stakeholders across our region, including local government, universities, health, and other community partners, will be vital, as will the ability to build strategic partnerships and alliances to further our impact.
Additionally, we are looking for someone who can effectively empower, enable and evolve a small and agile team as we continue to extend and grow our activity.
Inherently collaborative, with the ability to balance both strategic and operational demands, your can-do approach will also be underpinned by a belief in the social purpose of our founders.
This is a unique role with varied dimensions and will suit a versatile individual with a strong leadership track record that may originate in a variety of backgrounds. This could be in social innovation, commercial, land or property management, place-making or regeneration. Whatever your experience, we are looking for someone who is excited by the prospect of advancing Talbot Village Trust across a number of different areas, amplifying our voice and impact and creating a meaningful legacy for our communities.
