Job description

Moon Executive Search is delighted to be retained search partners to The European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE), as we bring the new role of Chief Executive Officer to the market for the first time.

ESPE was established in 1962 and is now one of the largest and well regarded international scientific communities of paediatric endocrinologists, with over 1,500 members representing over 100 countries in the world.

ESPE has grown its activities in recent years, producing educational and training activities, newsletters, webinars and a significant amount of e-learning content. In addition, ESPE has increased numerous collaborations with other paediatric societies, drives policy and advocacy with the European Parliament and produces thought leadership white papers. This new CEO role is an opportunity to build on this success, further help develop ESPE’s future strategy and ensure it continues to be at the forefront of paediatric endocrinology for years to come.

As CEO you will work closely with the current and incoming President, the ESPE Treasurer, the ESPE Council and the Strategic Finance Committee (SFC), to develop a growing organisation capable of delivering on its long-term vision. You will inspire as a motivational leader with strategic foresight and communication skills to galvanise stakeholders and take a hands-on approach to deliver organisational change. You will take day to day operational accountability, with the authority to carry out responsibilities in accordance with direction and policies established by ESPE Council and the SFC. As CEO, you will ensure the various ESPE committees are optimally supported in all their activities, building strong relationships and networks externally.

For this appointment, we are seeking experience in a senior leadership role in a membership association, preferably in the medical field. You should have experience of working with committees and trustees of non-profit organisations and possess a track record of successfully leading or contributing significantly to organisational development and change. You should offer clear strategic thinking with the ability to turn ideas and principles into actions and deliverables.
