Eden Scott is delighted to be working with an established PE-backed biotechnology scaleup as they look for a Chief Executive Officer to drive the business to its next phase of development and commercial growth.

Following a significant investment in its manufacturing capabilities, our client is now well positioned to strengthen commercial partnerships and expand its presence in several important markets.

Key deliverables for this position include:

1. Strengthening the leadership team to drive execution of the business strategy.
2. Expanding commercial traction through long-term customer relationships and recurring revenue.
3. Aligning the product portfolio with market demand while mitigating industry risks.
4. Achieving financial stability and cash flow positivity.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a CEO, Managing Director, or demonstrable experience at the Senior Leadership level within a relevant sector, with a strong understanding of both the technical and commercial aspects of running an industrial biotechnology business. A background in engineering, manufacturing, or process industries, particularly within the food and drink sector, is preferred.

Key Requirements

1. Proven track record of leading and growing a commercial business.
2. Experience in sales, business development, and securing commercial contracts.
3. Knowledge of international markets and experience in global sales.
4. Strong financial acumen, including P&L management and cash flow oversight.
5. Expertise in cost control and managing operational budgets.
6. Experience securing external funding, including grants and investment.
7. Understanding of operational efficiency within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
8. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Benefits and Compensation

Given the early-stage nature of this venture, the role will initially offer a base salary in the £80,000 - £100,000 range, complemented by an equity/options package designed to align incentives, drive motivation, and provide substantial rewards upon the company's successful exit.
