Job description

We are seeking a seasoned Chief Engineer to join our client, focusing on the renewable sector with an R&D facility in the Stoke on Trent area. This high-impact role is ideal for someone passionate about steering large industrial process systems projects with an analytical mindset towards mechanical design.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Leverage over a decade of experience in mechanical design related to industrial process systems such as SKIDS or forms of water systems.
  2. Manage P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) development processes aimed at containerisation strategies.
  3. Demonstrate project leadership from conception through implementation phases across global settings, particularly frequent travels primarily focused toward the Middle East regions.
  4. Analyse system configurations using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
  5. Carry out hands-on work overseas for commission & test phase of the system.
  6. Support the business in developing its capability for manufacture.

Skills & Experience:
  1. Minimum of ten years' hands-on involvement designing complex engineering systems such as Skids/ process automation systems or systems for the water/ oil & gas/ petrochemical/ energy sectors.
  2. Project Leadership - Ability to spearhead major projects, ensuring effective collaboration among cross-functional teams.
  3. Analysis Proficiency - Expertise utilising computational tools like CFD for simulation purposes.
  4. Experience setting up or enhancing manufacturing capabilities.

This full-time permanent role offers a hybrid working arrangement, occasional travel, and an extremely competitive package including a salary range of £75,000-£90,000, company performance bonus, and further benefits.
