Our client specialises in the development of financial software to help financial industry firms grow, adapt, and gain a technological advantage. Over 20 years in existence, the company is committed to providing an individual approach to each customer in providing custom software solutions and sharing its FinTech expertise, focusing on technical excellence and delivering best-in-class software products.

With rapid growth in recent years to now be at €100m Revenue, with over 1k direct and indirect employees, the company is now positioning itself to guarantee continued success in the future with a number of transformational C-Level appointments including this role of Chief Commercial Officer.

Background to the Chief Commercial Officer role:

  • The company is at an inflexion point and the appointment of the next generation of leaders in the business is critical to the continued success of the business.
  • This will ensure a strong and aligned C-suite to work with the very talented existing senior managers and employee base.

Location & Reporting lines:

  • Reporting to the CEO (who is Dublin, Ireland based), the CCO role can be worked remotely from London/UK or from main employee hubs including Dublin (Ireland), Porto (Portugal), Munich (Germany) or Sofia (Bulgaria).

Objectives and Responsibilities:

Strategic Commercial Leadership

Maturing the company’s commercial functions such that it is a pro-active, dependable and responsive enabler of growth for a fast growing €100m+ Revenue company, with an emphasis on establishing both internal and external credibility.

Develop and implement the company’s commercial strategy in alignment with business goals and objectives.

Identify and assess new market opportunities, trends, and competitive dynamics to drive growth and innovation.

Collaborate with the executive team to set strategic priorities and goals for commercial initiatives.

Sales and Business Development

Oversee the development and execution of sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and market share growth.

Lead the business development team in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and partnerships.

Foster strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders to drive business growth.

Marketing and Brand Management

Develop and implement marketing strategies to enhance brand awareness, reputation, and customer engagement.

Oversee the management of marketing campaigns, digital marketing efforts, and public relations activities.

Utilize market research and customer insights to inform marketing strategies and decisions.

Account Management

Develop and implement account management strategies to enhance client satisfaction and loyalty.

Oversee the management of account management operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery and issue resolution.

Implement client retention programs to maintain and grow the customer base.

Financial Management

Collaborate with the CFO to develop and manage commercial budgets and forecasts.

Monitor commercial performance, ensuring the company meets its revenue, profitability, and growth targets.

Optimize pricing strategies, sales incentives, and promotional activities to drive revenue growth.

Team Leadership and Development

Lead, mentor, and develop the commercial team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Promote collaboration and effective communication within the commercial team and across the organization.

Identify and address training and development needs within the commercial team.

Stakeholder Engagement

Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial matters with internal and external stakeholders.

Communicate the company’s commercial vision, strategy, and performance to the executive team, board of directors, and other stakeholders.

Build and maintain strong relationships with industry leaders, partners, and key stakeholders.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in commercial management within fintech, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Experience in capital markets is highly desirable.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field. A Master’s degree (e.g., MBA) or relevant professional certification is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong strategic planning and execution capabilities with 1) a proven track record of driving sales & marketing success and achieving business growth, 2) excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, 3) a deep understanding of sales, marketing, business development, and customer service, 4) the ability to navigate complex commercial environments and manage multiple priorities and 5) proficiency in commercial software & tools-CRM systems, marketing automation platforms.

Candidate Background

Small to medium capital markets/FinTech or related companies.

Direct involvement with creating or driving the revenue generating commercial strategy.

Previous/current companies working across multiple client types with experience of building commercial strategies across different client models.

Experience in transforming businesses, with an understanding of the challenges of significant change.

Experience with working in a Product and Technology organisation, with evidence of market based analysis on packaging product offerings for revenue growth.

Experience with driving marketing in a non-B2C market, with an understanding of how and where company marketing focus should be.

Experience with building out CRM capabilities and strong sales KPIs to demonstrate successful growth.

Remuneration

An attractive base salary and bonus scheme and LTIP potential commensurate with the candidate’s experience will be offered.
