Title: Chef Manager
Location: Bickley Park School, Bromley, BR1 2DS
Salary: 38,000 - 40,000 per annum + benefits

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chef Manager with a background in exceptional food catering services to join our team at Bickley Park School, a highly prestigious independent school.

Job Description

As Chef Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing all aspects of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation
  • Leading and developing a team of six, ensuring smooth kitchen operations
  • Designing seasonal menus using fresh, locally sourced ingredients
  • Managing stock control, ordering, and food costs to maintain profitability
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety and food hygiene regulations
  • Building strong relationships with school staff and pupils to enhance the dining experience

Qualifications

  • Professional culinary qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery, City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2, or equivalent)
  • Food Safety & Hygiene Level 3 (or higher) certification
  • Health & Safety certification (e.g., HACCP, COSHH, Allergen Awareness)
  • Experience as a Chef Manager, Head Chef, or Senior Sous Chef in an education, contract catering, or high-volume setting
  • Strong knowledge of menu planning, stock control, and cost management
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in managing and developing a kitchen team
  • Excellent understanding of health, safety, and food hygiene regulations
  • Passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and high-quality food production
  • Strong financial awareness, including GP management and budget control
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment
  • First Aid at Work certification (desirable)
