This is a temporary Chef role at Barchester Healthcare, a leading UK healthcare provider with over 224 homes and hospitals. The role involves working with fresh seasonal food, creating nutritious and well-balanced menus, and working in a warm and welcoming environment. The successful candidate will have a personable and warm approach, relevant qualifications, and experience in managing a team and working with fresh seasonal food.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Bank Chef at Barchester Healthcare involves assisting the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well-balanced menus for residents, while working to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the long hours and split shifts. The candidate will be responsible for managing the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, working within budget, completing regular audits, and managing stock control. The role offers a good work-life balance with working days and alternate weekends.

NEED TO HAVE

• A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
• Experience in helping lead and inspire a team
• A good understanding of nutrition
• Experience of working with fresh seasonal food
• The ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our home
• Good understanding of HACCP

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
• Work fresh produce to deliver high quality and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest quality and standards

Person Specification

Qualifications

• The successful candidate must hold a City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification, and have experience in helping lead and inspire a team, a good understanding of nutrition, and experience of working with fresh seasonal food. They must also have a good understanding of HACCP.
