Our client is dedicated to helping people in horticulture. They provide free support, information, advice, financial assistance and services for horticulturalists and their families experiencing illness, bereavement, family and work issues and problems with money.

They have a real focus on improving the health and wellbeing outcomes of people working in horticulture and have an ambitious preventative strategy to create better futures for people working in horticulture.

They are now looking for a Chef / Assistant Catering Manager to join their friendly and passionate team on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Role
As the Chef / Assistant Catering Manager, you will develop and cook seasonal menus using fresh produce from the kitchen garden and prepare daily homemade cakes, scones, and traybakes.

Supporting and deputising for the Catering Manager, you will share responsibility for the café's day-to-day operations, ensuring consistent professional service and a welcoming environment for customers and volunteers.

Additionally, you will:

  1. Lead food preparation
  2. Ensure food hygiene standards are met
  3. Assist in stock management and ordering
  4. Organise training
  5. Maintain health and safety records
  6. Oversee dietary and allergen requirements to provide a safe and inclusive service

About You
To be considered as the Chef / Assistant Catering Manager, you will need:

  1. A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
  2. Varied paid experience in the food service industry, including food preparation, ordering, budgeting, and stock control
  3. Strong customer service and communication skills
  4. Passion for food, creativity, and the ability to organise and lead effectively
  5. Flexibility to work seasonal and weekend hours

The closing date for this role is 31st January 2025.
