Ideally you will have experience of providing catering services within an NHS environment and sound understanding of infection prevention and control, COSHH, and current food hygiene.
Responsible for performing general catering duties in kitchens, dining rooms and associated areas including the service of food, cleaning of premises and equipment, preparation of snacks, salads, sandwiches, toast and beverages. To assist with temperature recording of all food, including the safe use of mechanical and electrical equipment following appropriate training.
At SSL, we work in partnership with Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust (BSMHFT), to deliver facilities management, transport and other support services to over 50 sites across the West Midlands. Our team keeps expanding and since our establishment in 2012, we have grown rapidly through the acquisition of new sites and services. At SSL we take pride in our focus to support and contribute to the Trust's aim which is to help people get better and challenge the stigma associated with mental illness.

SSL is mandated to meet national carbon net zero targets and is being performance managed towards that achievement. The health and safety of our staff is our top priority. We partner with our occupational health provider to check/offer vaccinations for Hepatitis B, Tetanus, Polio, Diphtheria, Measles, Mumps, and rubella (MMR), Varicella, Bacillus Calmette-Gurin (BCG) in line with recommended best practices for healthcare settings.
Communication
The post holder is responsible for ensuring they comply with current good practice in informing/updating all members of the multi-disciplinary team, their colleagues, service users, etc. of current work in progress.
Operational/Technical Activities
Responsible for engaging in the appraisal process, identifying personal development and training needs. Responsible for ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times in accordance with the data protection act trust policy and good practice. Responsible for maintaining and conducting oneself in a professional manner towards colleagues and other agencies. Responsible for reading, understanding and complying with all relevant departmental/trust and statutory policies and procedures. Responsible for ensuring that they contribute and work towards the service/organisational aims and objectives. To undertake any ad hoc duties as required by the senior Catering Supervisor commensurate with the grade of the post. It is everyone's responsibility to be aware of infection control procedures and to carry out relevant training. Every member of staff has a responsibility to be aware of and follow at all times, the relevant national and local policy in relation to the safeguarding of children, the safeguarding of vulnerable adults, and the control of infection.
FINANCE.
Responsible for handling cash and operating cash register including balance and banking all monies.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £24,795.62 to £26,436.50 a year.
