Every year across our county we conduct thousands of weddings and civil partnerships. We also facilitate Citizenship Ceremonies for hundreds of people and reproduce tens of thousands of certificates from our historic archives dating back to 1837. People come to us at major events in their lives and count on us to deliver what they need, so our teams make a big impact on local communities and services. Our service is used by the residents of, and visitors to, East Sussex.
The role of Ceremonies Registrar is to represent the County Council as the front line of East Sussex Registration at marriage and civil partnership ceremonies, with competence and professionalism. The key responsibility includes interviewing couples immediately prior to their ceremony and registering their marriage or civil partnership. These take place at Register Offices and at Approved Marriage Premises, located right across the county. Following suitable training, you could be conducting marriage ceremonies as well as citizenship ceremonies (Single Status 6).

We are looking for 15 people to join our Ceremonies Team across our 4 offices. The posts will be divided around the county, working from Crowborough, Eastbourne, Hastings and Lewes. Please indicate on your application which would be your preferred office. On occasion you may be asked to work from our other offices.
Due to the nature of the work this role is unsuitable for working from home.

Interviews will be held at: Lewes Register Office, Hastings Register Office and Eastbourne Register Office - On: 25th, 28th and 29th April (respectively).
The interview will involve an accuracy test, interview questions and a small public speaking part.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
