This is an exciting opportunity for a permanent part-time Centre Coordinator position within our Argyll & Bute Services. The postholder will be based within the Helensburgh Brain Health & Dementia Resource Centre.
Who we are
Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s national dementia charity. Our aim is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families, we campaign for the rights of people with dementia and fund vital dementia research.
What you’ll do
The Centre Coordinator will form part of the centre team, supporting the Centre Manager to provide Alzheimer Scotland’s programme of support for people concerned about their brain health or are affected by dementia.
The Centre Coordinator will be key to the successful delivery of Alzheimer Scotland’s vision to develop a programme of brain health and dementia support at identified centres across Scotland. The Centre Coordinator will support the Centre Manager to bring the ALOIS programme to life, ensuring that all our Centre visitors are met with warmth in a welcoming environment by staff and volunteers with the knowledge and skills to meet their needs. The support on offer will be available for individuals and their friends and family, ensuring that we take a whole family approach to care and support.
The Centre Coordinator will support the daily running of the Centre, being a local point of contact for Centre visitors and volunteers while carrying out the associated administrative tasks.
The Centre Coordinator will be a key support in the co-ordination of volunteers, including responsibility for following volunteer interview and recruitment processes, arranging volunteer inductions, ensuring relevant training and PVG/Disclosure documents are kept up to date, taking minutes at volunteer team meetings and organising the volunteer rota.
The Centre Coordinator will support the co-ordination of a core programme, led by the Centre Manager, of engaging opportunities, groups, and events designed to attract audiences who seek to learn more about brain health and dementia. The programme of groups and activities will vary from therapeutic, social and peer support to educational sessions delivered by external partners.
The successful candidate for this post will be required to provide proof of right to work in the UK and will also be subject to a PVG check through Disclosure Scotland.
