Job description

Visions Leisure Centre, Cumnock

We are looking for an exceptional team member to work within our team at Visions Leisure Centre. Provide lifeguard duties for learn to swim lessons ranging from non-swimmers to competent swimmers, general bathing sessions and planned pool activities.

Supporting with customer queries and resolving any issues on site when possible.

Health and safety checks on site.

Maintain the facility to a high standard.

Liaise with the swimming teachers and coordinator to advise of any issues that arise.

Lifeguard Duties and Responsibilities

Lifeguards are experts in water safety and must rescue swimmers who are sick, distressed or hurt. They may also do the following:

• Supervise swimming activities in the pool, ensuring that safety procedures, guidelines, and policies are followed.
• Warn of unsafe activities and enforce water safety policies and pool regulations.
• Provide first aid in the event of injury, rescuing swimmers in danger or distress and administering Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or artificial respiration, if necessary.
• Assess conditions for safety and develop an action plan for aquatic emergencies.
• Inspect pool equipment, facilities, and water to ensure they are usable and safe.
• Supervise and assist in cleaning equipment and facilities.
• Open and close the pool each day, depending on schedule and hours.
• Organise and oversee pool parties.
• Instruct or assist classes in the fundamentals of swimming.
• Resolve scheduling conflicts to ensure the pool environment is safe for competitions.

Applicants must hold a current Lifeguard qualification.

It would be beneficial to hold a Swimming/Fitness Instructors qualification.

Employment will be subject to a PVG check.
