Job description

Building a sustainable tomorrow

BAM FM is recruiting a Catering Assistant to work at Thurlbear Primary School in Taunton, Somerset.

Available Shift Pattern:
• 10 hours a week, Monday-Friday
• 11.45am - 1.45pm
• Term Time only.
Pay: GBP11.44 per Hour, Overtime available

Your mission

  1. Preparation of meals: prepare food in accordance with agreed recipes/methods
  2. Prepare ingredients for meals under direction.
  3. Adhering to current HACCP and food safety regulations & procedures
  4. Ensure that clean and dirty processes are kept separate
  5. Preparing food for chilled and/or hot transportation.
  6. Decant and/or serve food where required
  7. Use current management system to maintain food safety records.
  8. Refill and replace consumables
  9. Monitor and arrange orderly and secure storage of supplies
  10. Treat all customers with courtesy and consideration
  11. Work safely around the kitchen equipment and monitor and deal with any maintenance issues.
  12. Maintain accurate stock levels, including kitchen materials.
  13. Assist in achieving financial targets set out by Centre Production Manager.
  14. Assist in managing waste through correct product measurement.
  15. Maintain personal knowledge by completing in-house training & by attending courses.
  16. Always adhere to all company policies & procedures
  17. Be involved and contribute to team meetings.
  18. Carry out all instructions given by the management team & head office.
  19. Treat all customers with courtesy and consideration, in accordance with customer service training.

Who are we looking for?

  1. Experience of cooking/food preparation for large numbers
  2. Willingness to gain recognised catering qualification.
  3. Level 2 Hygiene Certificate - Desirable
  4. Knowledge of health and safety good practice in the kitchen.
  5. Good literacy and numeracy skills
  6. Good ICT - Desirable
  7. Ability to use relevant equipment
  8. Knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions
  9. Awareness of COSHH regulations
  10. Good communication skills
  11. Knowledge of health and hygiene procedures
  12. Willingness to participate in development and training opportunities
