Category Buyer

Our clients based close to Fareham are actively seeking a Category Buyer to join their growing Supply Chain team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in developing procurement strategies for specific product categories.
  2. Support preparation and implementation of category plans.
  3. Conduct market analysis to identify potential suppliers and evaluate supplier capabilities to support procurement decisions.
  4. Monitor commodity pricing trends and adapt procurement strategy.
  5. Prepare documentation for contract discussions and meetings to drive continuous cost down.
  6. Assist in/own contract negotiation, maintaining supplier agreements, and ensuring contractual compliance.
  7. Manage supplier relationships by tracking supplier performance and driving the resolution of supplier related issues.
  8. Meet with suppliers to review corrective action plans.
  9. Collaborate with internal teams such as sales, marketing, operations, and finance to gather business requirements and support aligned procurement activities.
  10. Perform procurement data analysis to identify cost saving opportunities and implement them.
  11. Develop a procurement plan based on historical procurement data.
  12. Ensure procurement activities adhere to company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards, assisting in mitigating supply chain risks.
  13. Support senior colleagues in auditing supplier compliance documentation.
  14. Identify potential compliance concerns and escalate appropriately.
  15. Participate in training sessions to stay updated on compliance regulations and procurement best practices.

Skills & Experience
  1. Experience in a procurement or supply chain role within an electromechanical manufacturing environment
