This advert is open to both Internal and External applicants.
Have you ever wondered how we know what is on our roads and where? We undertake surveys to keep our records up to date, enabling us to estimate future changes to traffic levels and focus investment.
It also allows us to assess the need for road safety schemes and measure the before and after changes once schemes have been delivered.
To do this, we rely on a small and dedicated team of traffic enumerators (surveyors) and we now wish to add to this team to ensure we have the capacity to handle the workload.
We are looking for individuals to carry out a wide variety of roadside traffic surveys and data collection to help inform the transport and highway planning process.
The work can also include data inputting and other office-based functions.
We need people who are numerate, comfortable with IT, able to work outdoors, and in good health.
Some previous experience of survey work would be advantageous but is not essential as training will be given. Generally, work is of the order of 6-hour shifts.
The number of days and hours will vary from week to week and can occasionally include working out of normal office hours.
The work is predominantly term-time only.
If that sounds like something you would be interested in, whether you can offer a few days a month or something more regular, we would love to hear from you.
Please note that if an employee who is currently at risk of redundancy within the organisation applies for this vacancy, their application will receive priority. If this happens, you will be advised accordingly.
