Job Title: Carpenter/Fabric Engineer
Location: Baker Street, London
Rota: 4 on, 4 off shift pattern (Days and Nights)
Working Hours: 7am to 7pm OR 7pm to 7am
Salary: £34,200 per annum

Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Carpenter/Fabric Engineer to join our team at Baker Street. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining and repairing the fabric of the building, with a focus on fire doors, ensuring compliance with safety standards and maintaining a high standard of workmanship.

Working on a rotating shift pattern of 4 days on and 4 days off, you will be responsible for both day and night shifts, ensuring the facility operates smoothly around the clock. The ideal candidate will possess strong carpentry skills, particularly in fire door installation and maintenance, and will be adept at working in a fast-paced environment. You will need to be proactive, detail-oriented, and have a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Fire Door Maintenance: Install, repair, and maintain fire doors, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations and standards.
  2. Carpentry Tasks: Carry out various carpentry and joinery works, including the repair of internal fixtures and fittings, furniture, and general building maintenance.
  3. Fabric Maintenance: Perform general fabric maintenance duties such as repairing walls, ceilings, floors, and doors across the facility.
  4. Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations, including fire safety protocols.
  5. Problem-Solving: Identify and address any issues within the building that may require carpentry or fabric engineering work, working efficiently to resolve these in a timely manner.
  6. Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the maintenance team to ensure smooth operations, particularly during shift handovers.

Key Skills & Qualifications:
  1. Carpentry Expertise: Extensive knowledge and experience in carpentry, specifically in the maintenance and installation of fire doors.
  2. NVQ Level 2: in Carpentry or equivalent qualification.
  3. City & Guilds Level 2: in Carpentry & Joinery or equivalent.
  4. Experience: At least 5 years' experience in a similar role, ideally within a facilities maintenance or building services environment.
  5. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and an ability to work to tight deadlines.
  6. Health and Safety Knowledge: Solid understanding of health and safety regulations, especially those related to fire safety.
