Are you a hands-on individual with a knack for maintenance and a heart for helping others? If so, this rare opportunity to join The Abbeyfield Society might be perfect for you!

About Us

Abbeyfield is a national charity committed to alleviating loneliness and isolation among older people. We create supportive, welcoming communities through our retirement apartments, sheltered housing, and care homes, where residents feel valued, empowered, and connected.

About the Role

We’re on the lookout for a Caretaker to join our small but mighty team! This role is vital to keeping our accommodation feeling like home. As a Caretaker, you’ll handle:

  1. General building maintenance (e.g., painting, minor repairs).
  2. Routine health & safety checks.

You’ll be a key part of creating a safe, welcoming environment for our residents.

What We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  1. Have experience in light repairs and general maintenance.
  2. Are confident in communication and can prioritize tasks effectively.
  3. Are friendly, understanding of older people’s needs, and enjoy being part of a supportive team.

If you answered “yes” to all three, we want to hear from you!

Why Join Abbeyfield?

We’re committed to recognising and rewarding our team members. Working with us comes with a range of benefits, including:

  1. Annual Leave: 25 days, increasing to 28 days after 5 years of service, plus public holidays.
  2. Growth & Development: Comprehensive induction and career development opportunities.
  3. Competitive Pay: Benchmark-based and with progression opportunities.
  4. Health & Wellbeing: Medicash support, Employee Assistance Programme, and discounted gym membership.
  5. Financial Rewards: £500 refer-a-friend scheme, life assurance, and company pension.
  6. Exclusive Discounts: BenefitHub and Blue Light Card discounts for social care sector workers.
  7. Additional Perks: Occupational sick pay, cycle-to-work scheme, and more.

Please note this role will require eligibility to work in the UK, two satisfactory employment references and a Standard DBS check, the cost of which will be met by Abbeyfield. You may be asked to provide details regarding convictions; failure to disclose convictions may result in an offer of employment being revoked.
