JOB DESCRIPTION: Caretaker

SALARY DETAILS: DSAT Grade 4 SCP7-11 on the NJC Pay Structure, £25,584 - £27,269 pro rata, Generous employers pension scheme with the Local Government (South Yorkshire Pension Authority)

CLOSING DATE: Monday 21st April 2025, 12 Noon

WORKING PATTERN: Permanent, 20 hours per week, 52 weeks per year (27 days holiday per year, to be taken during the school holidays) plus Bank Holidays

Working hours: 7am – 11am, negotiable depending on candidate suitability

INTERVIEWS: Monday 28th April 2025

POST COMMENCING: Monday 1st September 2025

St Alban’s C of E Primary School are part of The Diocese of Sheffield Academies Trust and we are seeking a diligent and proactive Caretaker with good interpersonal skills and high standards. We need a person who loves to fix, clean, build, unblock, paint, mow, weed and take genuine ownership and pride in our school. In return, we can promise a school full of amazing children, a genuine staff team and a well-resourced environment.

The Caretaker will be directly responsible to the Head of School but will work closely with the Trust Buildings Manager, Senior Leadership Team, Office Manager, and other school staff.

The Caretaker is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the school site ensuring the buildings and grounds are clean and safe, ready for the children and staff to work, learn and play. Your role will include opening up the school.

  • Someone who is proactive and diligent
  • Has a trade background/training in either plumbing, joinery, plastering, painting/decorating, electrician, grounds maintenance
  • Ability to multi task across a range of activities
  • A conscientious person who sets high standards with attention to detail
  • Someone who can develop good relationships with staff and has excellent communication skills
  • A good team member, but able to work independently
