Main Responsibilities:

1. Ensure maintenance tasks and minor repairs are completed within the building such as painting, shelving, door handles, leaks, lighting etc.
2. Opening and closing the buildings daily.
3. Make sure heating, lighting and alarm systems are working properly.
4. Ensure wash areas and toilet areas are regularly replenished and kept up to standards.
5. Check all fire safety signage and equipment are legally compliant and recorded.
6. Upkeep of gardens and school grounds.

TeacherActive are seeking Caretakers in the Newport area to work in the schools of the local community. This is a split shift so hours will be 6.45am - 9.45am and 2.30pm - 6pm. The job role is temporary ongoing and could lead to a permanent position for the right Caretaker / Groundsman!

Qualifications:

1. Experience as a caretaker or a hands-on background e.g. factory or labour work.
2. A can-do, proactive attitude towards your work.
3. Reliability.
4. Excellent attention to detail.
5. Ability to use your initiative.
6. Knowledge of public safety and security.
